What's New? Well...nothing, at the moment. In the meantime here's a flashback article: Sunstar Davao Joey Albert: A fresh look FRESH from Vancouver, Canada, singer Joey Albert wowed Dabawenyos in a two-day concert at Chico's Music Bistro along Bonifacio St., Davao City last Friday and Saturday. If she was labeled as a snob during her heydays, in person, Joey Albert is the antithesis of haughtiness. Warm and pleasant, amiable and friendly, Joey won the hearts of the media during the press conference at Chico's Music Bistro. "Most people do not know how candid I am and how involved I am in public service," she said. A Mass Communications graduate, Joey says she wanted to make a name for herself in tv broadcasting when she graduated from college back in 1981. "I just sang for fun," she said. But her mother insisted that she finished her studies. "I agree with her (Joey's mother). I will encourage young people today who are in showbiz to finish their studies, too." Though "Tell Me" became a monster hit in the 80's, Joey says her favorite song to date is "Million Miles Away." "It was my first song that I heard played on the airwaves. I can't describe the feeling. Until now, it never ceases to amaze how massive airtime my songs got," she enthused. So how will she describe herself in three words? "A messenger of hope," she says, though it took her quite some time before she finally found the appropriate words. Kudos to Jessari Tarona for popping the question. And being a cancer survivor, Joey shares her secret on
how she maintains her health these days. "Bawal ang malungkot,"
she laughs.
